In three separate instances I went to Christopher to help me manage pain in my knee, shoulder and jaw. Each time he quickly identified the problem, developed a treatment plan, worked his magic on me and taught me how to do the exercises needed. I’m a believer!
Whenever my weekend warrior exploits result in some injury or pain, I count on Christopher to get me back up and running. In just a few appointments, he has always been able to show me how to rehabilitate the injured muscle, tendon or ligament, and strengthen my core.
Here's what I overheard in the waiting room, on my first appointment to see Christopher DeMarco
Woman, to receptionist:
"I only see Christopher. Do not, do not for any reason, give me an appointment with anyone else. If its not with Christopher, I'm not coming"
Yeesh, I thought, I dont want to be *that* person.
As for me, on that day, I couldn't believe I was even in a PT office. Not becuse I was the poster child of good orthapedic health. Quite the opposite.
Debilitating back pain and sciatica had ruled my world since a fluke injury in June of 2006. Despite my best efforst and months upon years of earnest attempts, PT made me worse.
And it wasnt just PT that didn't help. I actually needed an Excel spreadsheet to track all the things I'd tried, to no avail. Things that help so many people - surgery, shots, medications, acupuncture, chiropractors - did not help me in any long lasting/meaningful way.
And then I was in a car accident in September 2013, in which the formerly good side of my back took a direct hit.
On the advice of a friend, whose opinion I value, I went to see Christopher.
"He was not like other PTs." And she was spot on. He's a master.
Part of it, is the unique, deep hands on work that he does. (for which he credits the training he's done with the Institute of Physical Art.) And part of it is, that he just has naturally gifted, connected hands. Healing hands.
And the other part of it is that he knows SO much. About making improvements to the ergonomics of every day life. About alternatives to try when a move/exercise is not working.
Christoher doesnt just read books and spout concepts, he models them. He incorporates changes into his own life, an then shares how he did it. How it felt. What to do.
Sessions with him arent memorized routines. He takes the things that I am able to to do and builds from there. A yoga pose. A Feldenkrais move. A PT can only do this if he really knows what hes doing inside and out. And he does.
Christopher has looked me straight in the eye and told me that I will not be in chronic pain forever. And I believe him.
I would recommend him highly to anyone, but especially to people who have conditions that seem to be treatment resistant.
